Hack #1: Color Palettes
Instead of choosing 'the perfect color combo', try looking for a color palette that consists of 3-5 colors. Something that will go well with different styles and textures and will look nice against your chosen background at your favorite location. For example, navy and maroon look nice together, but why stop there? Why not add a pop of dusty rose, Gold or a deep green too? Don't like gold? switch it with a pretty creme color! The possibilities are endless!
Hack #2: Prep well
It's fall ya'll. Let's prep like it's an Illinois fall, cause it is! Bring mini fans, bug spray, sunscreen, sweaters, blankets and plenty of water. You never know what kind of weather we'll have that day. It's best to be prepared for both hot and cold.
Decide ahead of time if you want to mess with props or not. We'll be carrying all of the things we bring from spot to spot, so choose your battles well.
Hack #3: Time Matters
Check sunset times for the session date on Google. Depending on the amount of time you'll be in the session, plan up to just before sunset. We want that pretty golden light, but we also want plenty of shade. The golden and orange leaves look best in shade. In full sun, the contrast can be glaringly bright and harsh. You don't want to wait until it's too dark though either, though. You'll miss the colors completely!
Hack #4: Get your pictures to pull double-duty
Fall pictures are the perfect backdrop for family photos, there's no arguing that. But, If you plan your locations and outfits well, your pictures can have double the impact and double the use. Fall leaves in one photo, but a quick turn could have deep green evergreens and pines, making the perfect backdrop for this year's Christmas cards! Who doesn't love getting those custom cards from family and friends. You'll be able to get them done early too, taking some of the stress out of the Holiday rush.
