About Me

Hello,

My name is Amber. I'm from a teeny, tiny town called Oakland, Illinois. My one true passion from a very young age has always been horses. The sound of munching hay, the smell of leather and horse sweat, the feel of a velvet nose and the freedom and adventure of riding across an open field or exploring the warm and verdant woods. They've been my life, my rock in trying times and the best darn secret keeper I've ever known.

Shockingly, I wanted horses to be a part of my career. I started as a vet tech in a small clinic, working on large and small animals. Over time, it wore on me. My one solace was again, my horses. Eventually I met a friend who wanted his daughter to learn to ride. We worked out a deal. He'd teach me to use my little camera and I would teach his daughter to ride. Now, 8 years later, I specialize in equine, senior, and family photography. I use a mix of natural light and off camera flash to create bold, colorful and adventurous images. I'm your go-to for equine and western portraits in the Central Illinois area, while also capturing beautiful and impactful senior and family portraits. I aim for natural expressions with fluid posing, using motion to create relaxed and organic images. I partner with my clients to create a fun and memorable experience, no matter the location or weather.

I'm excited for life's adventure and getting to explore new horizons, connect with honest, down-to-earth people from all walks of life and leaning into personal growth and lifelong learning. My goal is to seek meaningful connections, persist through challenges, have a never-give-up attitude and inspire others to do the same. I am dedicated to living a life of curiosity, creativity and resilience while staying true to my downhome roots.

fun fact:

Although I grew up riding from a young age (5), we only did trail riding around home and occasionally in Shawnee National Forest. I didn't compete in anything until I was in my late twenties.

Here are a few gems of Cricket and me in Cowboy Mounted Shooting.

I use two revolvers with black powder blanks to shoot a total of ten balloons. We are timed and the courses are set before the competition. The goal is to go as fast as you can, stay on course and shoot all of the balloons. Fastest and cleanest run wins!
