All Year Long!

There is no right or wrong season to get professional pictures taken here in central Illinois. All seasons have their pros and cons. They all have their own beauty as well as the not so pretty. I guess it just depends on the look or vibe you're going for. I do have a few things for you to consider though.

Seasonal Allergies in Spring

This field of wild mustard is beautiful. Beth's photo's with her husband and favored horses turned out so gorgeous with that bright yellow pop of color! She did mention during the session that her eyes were burning, and I had a serious case of sniffles and itchy eyes. Before committing to a certain look, be sure you're not allergic!

Summer

Bugs, heat and humidity. If the heat doesn't bother you, this season is prime for photos! There's so many location options and events going on that the possibilities are endless...

Fall

This one can be tricky if you're wanting the prime fall leaf colors. There's a small window before they all turn brown and drop to the ground. If you don't care about the fall colors, then this is a pretty season to get portraits done. The weather is much more cooperative, it's still nice enough out to be outside, the bugs are slacking off and there are still plenty of outdoor events happening.

Winter

This season can be a tad limiting in my experience. If you want outdoors, your session lasts only as long as your will-power. Your not usually wearing a coat, your shoes soak up the cold and damp and the colors all depend on what you're wearing instead of your environment.

You can always do an indoor session, but that has it's limitations. We're stuck with certain lighting and backgrounds. We can do mostly tight shots unless you have huge rooms and I don't know about you, but my house doesn't look like a show home. It's not fancy decor or anything I would want in my photos. If you do love your decor, then go for it!

Are you ready?

Overall, the point is that there is no "best" season for professional portraits, just what's best for you and actually having them done. Putting it off until you lose weight, grow your hair, your horse is better trained....etc. is the best way to have regrets. Your children won't be this young and cute, your horse is only getting older, are we really going to lose the weight, you can always get more photos later when you reach those goal! Having the photos now though, creates a timeline of you and life, which I think is more special than having the "perfect" pictures.

So I'll see you out there being your perfectly imperfect you in whichever season you love most.
